Internet personality and theme park enthusiast Deezy Rides went on an expedition through Niagara Falls' Clifton Hill, and he was shocked by what he saw, to say the least.
The content creator, who built a following by vlogging about roller coasters and amusement parks worldwide, made a pit stop at one of Canada's biggest tourist attractions and documented his experience.
In the reel, which he shared on his official Instagram account, Deezy stands at the foot of the hill, looks up, and immediately says, "What is this?!" He then admits he wasn't expecting to stumble upon the tourist district while visiting the Canadian side of the Falls.
He makes his way down the street, pointing out the attractions that have made Niagara Falls' Clifton Hill such a beloved destination for tourists and locals alike. Think the age-old Rainforest Cafe, the infamous Niagara SkyWheel, and, of course, the Burger King Roller Coaster, which many may find janky but has become an iconic part of the longstanding strip.
After touring the street, Deezy, who goes by his online pseudonym, concludes that Clifton Hill is the "tourist trap final boss," suggesting it tops the list of gimmicky destinations the influencer has visited.
While he points out that seemingly every possible tourist trap can be found on the street, locals appear torn over his reaction. The comments section has been debating whether Niagara Falls' Clifton Hill is truly a tourist ploy, or whether the strip still has some novelty left.
"I live just under 10 minutes from all of this, and I try to stay as far as I can from it," a local resident commented on the reel. Another wrote, "Sadly listed as the biggest tourist trap in North America."
But many have come to the area's defence, with commenters sharing their own fond memories of Clifton Hill.
"That janky ass Frankenstein rollercoaster on top of the Burger King was INCREDIBLE. We paid like $20 to ride that thing, and it beat us up. We got off of it laughing hysterically, because we were shocked at how bad yet amazing it was 10/10 would ride again!" One person comments.
Another commenter wrote, "Agreed, total tourist trap, but who doesn't love a giant Frankenstein over a Burger King!!! And the go-karts are actually the best thing there! Don't forget the honourable mention to Bird Kingdom!!"
If there's one thing that's clear from the reactions to Deezy's reel, it's that Clifton Hill remains a nostalgic attraction for plenty of people across the province. The strip has been synonymous with Niagara Falls for decades, evolving into a bustling tourist destination filled with people of all ages on any given day — and night — throughout the week.
And regardless of how much the TikToker, who boasts almost half a million followers across his social media accounts, considers the hill tourist bait, he ends his video by saying that compared to Clifton Hill, the Falls are "by far the least interesting part."
