Radar: Mechanical Advantage, Trans Film Screening Series, Elvis Monday, Shania Twain book signing, Memories Of Love

MUSIC | Continuum presents Mechanical Advantage
Tonight marks Continuum's final concert of the year, and rumour has it that things have not worked out as originally planned, but as can often happen in music itself, "happy accidents" do occur, resulting in a better outcome than originally intended. Such is the case with the program for this evening, featuring the work of Ann Southam, a prolific Canadian composer, and recipient of the Order of Canada. The work of Anthony Genge, Aldo Clementi, Louis Andriessen, and Moyia Callahan will also be featured.
Music Gallery (197 John Street) 8PM $25/$15 students & seniors

FILM | Trans Film Screening Series: "Speakeasy"
Tonight's screening at Trans Film night could be a controversial one. "Speakeasy", a 2009 release by director Courtney Trouble won the "Most Tantalizing Trans Film" award at the 2010 Feminist Porn Awards. The film is a detective story, produced in the "film noir" style, popular in the 1940s, and is set in a "queer club filled with handsome transmen and femme fatales." Audiences are warned of explicit sexuality, and the like. There will be an open discussion following the screening.
Bahen Centre (40 St. George Street, Rm 1180) 6:30PM FREE

MUSIC | Elvis Monday
Rescuing TO from the very real threat of local indie rock levels being temporarily depleted.... is Elvis Monday! Your Rock i/v will slowly drip with the sounds of 5 Aces, People of Canada, New Wings, 13 Boats, Spectre, and Garage Baby. Here's to a speedy rawk-overy!
Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) 9PM FREE

MUSIC | Shoeless Monday
If you're still in the "old skool" Queen West zone, and in need of some local new music, check into the Horseshoe Tavern. Their "Shoeless Mondays" is sure to deliver some 'soul' to your evening. It's a great bar that has been doing its thing for over 60 years. The Shoe also has a big performance space - no makeshift stage in the corner at this venue! Plus: no cover! Tonight you can check out Breaching Vista, with Joel Battle and Palace of the End.
Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen Street West) 9PM FREE
