After 30 years of serving Slurpees and taquitos to late-night customers, a popular 7-Eleven location in Toronto has shut down for good, evidently leaving no trace of the global convenience store brand behind.
When it was first announced that the 7-Eleven location at College and Spadina was suddenly closing on June 30, Toronto residents were aghast, saddened to hear that their go-to spot for smokes and energy drinks to get them through exams would be no more.
People continue to mourn after seeing the store at 260 College St completely boarded up, making the intersection look more like a Scooby Doo ghost town than a lively corner of the city.
"RIP," reads the original post circulating on X.

One individual jotted down the same thing I feel upon hearing the news.
some of my worst and least proud moments took place at 2am in that 7/11, needless to day I mourn its loss but keep its memories.

For many of locals, it wasn't just a store. It was a landmark.
Holy shit. Some epic memories on that corner and that store. RIP

It looks like one Toronto resident will have to find a new spot to help them stay hydrated.
Damn man. This place saved me when i was dehydrated.

One reminisces about how ending the night at this spot was basically their "thing."

We as a community have every right to be sad, but should we be surprised? well, not really.
Back in April, the chain announced its plan to close 645 North American stores this fiscal year. In May, locations at Jane Street and Wilson Avenue and 24th Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West shuttered. In June, the 7-Eleven at Bloor and Spadina also served its last taquito.
All is not lost, though. Locations on Dundas Street and Queen Street West are still standing... for now. So savour every suspiciously inexpensive hot dog, every greasy roller grill sausage, and every brain-freezing Big Gulp like it's your last.
You just never know in an ever-changing city like Toronto.
