holy chuck at st clair considered a cheap eat? for at least 10 dollars a burger? you've gotta be kidding me.
    Encyclopedia Brown / July 15, 2014 at 12:49 pm
Scarborough RT is not a subway! Your headline is inaccurate.
    Moaz Ahmad / July 15, 2014 at 12:55 pm
May as well do Line 5 as well. It will be open in 7 years but we can ride the buses in the meantime. Be interesting to see how the top restaurants/bars chamge over time.
    madvegan / July 15, 2014 at 12:56 pm
    dosa mahal?! nazareth?!
    Chuck / July 15, 2014 at 12:57 pm
K&K in FCP should in no way be on this list -- easily one of the most expensive in that area for what you get.. The health food store with a food counter across the hallway there is a better choice.
    @MMiotts / July 15, 2014 at 12:57 pm
The homemade Oreo cookies at Celena's are friggin amazing. Definite must try to anyone in the area.

Sorry, just trying to fit in here.
    Michael / July 15, 2014 at 01:05 pm
Who crafts these lists? Do they just do a search on eating near a subway station? Unreal.

St. Andrew (my work stop) - K&K causes a gluten free hole in my pocket. So damn expensive and not that great.

Downsview (home stop) - there are about 3 places and better than Baba Ganoush. Even Cali Sandwiches is closer and cheaper.

This is what happens when hipsters control the internet.

Yoo Ga Ne is long gone my friends!
    cass / July 15, 2014 at 01:06 pm
I'm actually sitting under a tree near Lawrence East Station in Scarborough eating a delicious chicken roti and absolutely loving that you've included the SRT.
Reg replying to a comment from Michael / July 15, 2014 at 01:15 pm
Food and Price is a personal choice. Maybe I love Baba Ganoush.

WHy don't you draft your own list.
    mb / July 15, 2014 at 01:16 pm
I live with a few people near Dufferin Station and we occasionally have Doritos to share, does that count????????????????????????????????????
Michael replying to a comment from Reg / July 15, 2014 at 01:20 pm
You're right about food and price being a personal choice - no arguments there.

I would craft my own list but it obviously be lost on a person such as yourself who likes Baba Ganoush.

Go spend the afternoon combing your beard and eating tacos.

holy chuck and kanga a cheap eat? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Man in the Mirror replying to a comment from Michael / July 15, 2014 at 01:41 pm
Go cry in your Cali Sandwich then that everyone else likes this list and you are once again sitting angry all alone. Judging everyone else but yourself.
Amy replying to a comment from Michael / July 15, 2014 at 01:42 pm
    Awesome LIST! Love this!
    Ben / July 15, 2014 at 01:45 pm
Brock sandwich is delicious, but it's by no means cheap. Sandwiches (JUST sandwiches, before paying for sides) cost $10+ before tax. I love it there, but unfortunately it's not cheap enough for me to frequent.
    Maggie / July 15, 2014 at 01:47 pm
Apache Burger IS amazing but I wouldn't exactly call it cheap eats.
    Tim / July 15, 2014 at 01:53 pm
Kanga is a big rip off! Not cheap at all. pooo pooooo
    gnss / July 15, 2014 at 01:58 pm
Mainsha is usually pretty good but the one in Lawrence Square is gross...
Reg replying to a comment from Ben / July 15, 2014 at 02:02 pm
One person's cheap is another persons expensive.
    Hard to satisfy all.

I think the idea of this list it to provide places that are quick and reasonably priced. Sure if you want cheaper than Brock Sandwich there's always Pizza Pizza and Subway right across the street. But we don't want a map full of the big chain restaurants because they're always the cheapest DO WE?

    Costco? Really?
Michael replying to a comment from mar / July 15, 2014 at 02:58 pm
Any list that contains Costco is comical and should be abolished. Enough said.
    Beth / July 15, 2014 at 03:02 pm
Picnic at Yonge and Bloor, really????? Not only is it not cheap for what you get, it has only been around a few months. How about Ginger, Extreme Taste, Salad Days or Biryani House (to name a few better options).
Mark replying to a comment from Michael / July 15, 2014 at 03:27 pm
What, $1.50 for a sausage and drink not cheap enough for you?

    What is cheap?
Tim replying to a comment from bob / July 15, 2014 at 03:44 pm
I too would like to know what their definition of cheap is. Lunch Box at Keele is tasty but definitely not cheap.
    chris / July 15, 2014 at 04:28 pm
The fact that Fit For Life and Bakery On the Go are actually located inside Bathurst Station seems to have evaded the notice of this writer.
    Indianguy / July 15, 2014 at 04:29 pm
Yes? Hi! Also there is the New India Pub!
    Alyssa Cook / July 15, 2014 at 04:50 pm
Mother's Dumplings should definitely be on this list. Come on, people!
    Karen / July 15, 2014 at 05:01 pm
Sunshine Spot is an amazing breakfast place! I just went there recently for some amazing eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Here's my review of it:

Kupfert & Kim is also really good! My review of it:
    Fun / July 15, 2014 at 05:27 pm
    Fun list.

Looks like we all have different ideas - maybe we don't have to be so angry when people have different ideas.

That said, BlogTO you should try an meet the minimum standard of checking if a place is open or not.
    Sammy B / July 15, 2014 at 06:42 pm
    Great list. Great concept.
    Jay / July 15, 2014 at 06:50 pm
Wymilwood Cafe (at Museum Station) no longer exists. It is now Ned's Cafe.
    Brandon / July 15, 2014 at 06:58 pm
Seriously.... Costco ? Lunch Box is inexpensive ????
    Bloto.... you're getting sloppy...

Lansdowne stop + cheap eats = chito's pizza. You can get two slices of pizza with shawarma chicken on top for $4 flat!
    Rey Ban / July 15, 2014 at 11:18 pm
I agree with Ben. Brock sandwich is nowhere near cheap. I love this place so much that I even went on a 1 week binge of eating there. I of coarse ended up being broke.
    viv / July 16, 2014 at 12:22 am
You keep using the word "cheap"... I don't think it means what you think it does.
    Eagles Nest / July 16, 2014 at 06:02 am
They keep saying restaurant and I know what that means
    Jake / July 16, 2014 at 06:37 am
Why is it called "cheap" eats ??? There are so many overpriced spots with cheaper ones next to them - it is funny how wrong this map is.
    Cindy / July 16, 2014 at 06:42 am
    Baba Ganoush!!!!
    paul / July 16, 2014 at 08:04 am
Kanga is not cheap for what you get!
    Matthew / July 16, 2014 at 08:21 am
Its All GRK at Spadina is not cheap. O.G. Grill around the corner on Walmer has better Gyros and they are actually cheap.
    Kelly / July 16, 2014 at 08:55 am
Mean Bao is terrific and actually cheap. Their hours are not great though. Noon to six or seven, closed Sundays, and closed all through long weekends. I can't blame them for wanting to have a life, though. Good for you, guys!
    DirtyT / July 16, 2014 at 10:12 am
This isn't so much a list of "cheap eats" as much as it's just simply a listing of random (less than 5 star) restaurants near subway stations.
    YOLO / July 16, 2014 at 10:28 am
    Great list!!!
    teddy / July 16, 2014 at 12:46 pm
You know Glencairn is a wasteland when their best "cheap place to eat" is actually a grocery store...
    west end / July 16, 2014 at 12:53 pm
keele station is king slice by a longshot
    Erin / July 16, 2014 at 02:27 pm
Kupfert & Kim and iQ Food Co. are two of the most expensive casual restaurants in the area... get it together
    Sarah / July 17, 2014 at 02:25 pm
This list lost all credibility by choosing Picnic at Yonge and Bloor. Come on.
A.) its not that cheap B.) its kind of gross and c.) I think its actually closer to bay station and d.) there are tons of better cheaper options near by (as others have mentioned - extreme taste, salad days, esters soup kitchen, the Korean place)
    Aleks / July 18, 2014 at 10:19 am
Did you actually go in to some of these places to verify your claims? IQ foods is a designer salad joint that doesn't even carry salt, because it's so pretentious.

    TJ / August 5, 2014 at 11:47 am
    I guess "cheap" means a $15 meal.
That's not cheap in my books.

Check out Pie Squared at 360 Bloor Street East near the Sherbourne Subway Station. It has great sweet and savoury pies for under $5. Love the squares and the science motif.
