Nak WonNak Won is a Korean restaurant in North York. It takes a while to get a table here on a Saturday night, but it's worth the wait. We suggest the dolsot bibimbap. After a total of seven delicious complimentary side dishes: double the variety than most other restaurants, you may have little room left for the main course.

Easily the best Korean food in the city. I've been here many times, and the food is always perfectly prepared, totally delicious, and service is very fast and friendly. Prices are low, portions are large, with lots of free side dishes. Decor is clean and elegant. There is a lineup saturdays, but it moves fast, and is well worth the wait. Very highly recommended.

There is a new location at First Markham Place, Markham (HWY 7 & Woodbine, on 7, east of Woodbine). Service is OK. There is one sloppy waitress who walks and talks like a jell-O.

It's the first time we went to the new location at Markham. We order kam ja tang too much MSG and too spicy, the meat wasnt juicy, nor tender at all...also order sea food pancake and i ask for more crispy...the pancake came out ...wasnt crispy at all...we all very disappointed...at the end we ask for doggy bag so she came with the doggy bag and she leave it there on the table. She didnt want to packed the food for us... very rude and sloppy waitress. The Manager left his smile at home. if u are looking for easy, cheap place, tasteless food...it's the best place.

love their food, absolutely HATE their service. waitresses at the Markham location are noticeably more sloppy as above comments mentioned. she never said one word. no hi, bye, thank you, you're welcome, nothing. the elder lady that works at both locations is also a grouch. i wish they would bring their happniess and smiles with them. i usually tip $5 with a $10 meal but their services leaves me questioning if i should tip at all

Summary: Dirty and Bad Service

I have been to this restaurant a few times but tonight, for sure, was the last time for me and my friends. To start off, the appetizer they served was very dirty, it had a bug in the food. And when we asked the waiters for bowls, they gave us dirty bowls (with kimchi sauce on it, for sure they didn’t wash them thoroughly). At when we finished our meal, the waitress immediately handed us the bill (which we didn’t even ask for it). We paid the bill and tipped them well, and my friends and I would like to sit there for 5-10 mins just to finish up our tea and wait for our rides. However, right after they got our money, the waitress asked us to leave because they have other customers waiting. We told the waitress that we want to sit there for another 5-10 mins cause we need to wait for our rides, then she walked away looking upset. After another 1-2 mins, another waiter came to our table and asked us to leave again. My friends and I were very upset at that point because we already told the other waitress we just need another 5-10 mins, we didn’t expect them to be so rude and came to ask us to leave again. And at the same, another waiter also came to our table and asked us to leave. My friends and I feel extremely offended and we left the restaurant right away. Don’t go to this restaurant, they don’t deserve to get any customers.

It took them 40 minutes to get us a plate of frozen meat for Korean BBQ. When we'd push the buzzer to request service, our table number would often appear only to be deleted with noone coming to help us. Even getting the bill was an ordeal.

This was the first time we'd ever just rounded up to the next dollar for the tip, but I wish we hadn't even done that. After we handed them the money, an older lady came up to us and questioned why we didn't give them a larger tip. After explaining the way we'd been treated, she insisted that we owed it to them.

Let's just say that 'Nak Won' is a curse word now...

The service is very very dissappointing. Waitresses treated me and my friend so bad, first of all, they didn't bring us tea (or water), I ordered a beer and the waitress just put the bottle on the table, with no glass and didn't even open it, and she was CHEWING and had some sauce on her lips while serving our food! It was just ew. They didn't say hello or bye or anything, nothing at all. I just didn't feel welcome at all so didn't my friend. And from what I can see here I'm not the only one complaining about the service. Food was good, i hope they didn't spit in my soup because I'm not korean. Next time I'll just go to Ka Chi, nice restaurant with friendly young staff.

I know Nak Won by far can offer one of the best Korean foods in town. However, I've been to the one at First Markham Place twice now (in two weeks). I'm not sure if their rules have changed.. but they refused to give my table extra side dishes. We did not give them bad attitude whatsoever. When we did ask for more side dishes, our waitress was about to ask us which ones we wanted, and then another elder waitress yelled something in Korean to the waitress that was helping us, then she said "sorry we cannot give you anymore". BS.

On my second visit, we ordered more than we did the first time. We stayed for at least one hour, finished our main dishes, and wanted to ask for more side dishes once again. This time it took 2 waitresses before we got their attention. This time, their excuse was "sorry our computer broke down, as you can see we are very busy.. running around. We forgot", while the table behind us got their second order of ChapChae. Ok, we'll get the bill then. We wanted to pay by credit card and they demanded we write down the tips first because their machine is "unable" to pay tips after the bill. BS?. Also, I notice both times they use the younger waitress to break the bad news to us. Sorry gal, sucks to be you.

Food and ambiance is great, I'll give them that. But their front door display clearly says Side Dishes - free. It's a shame that their poor attitude shows from refusing their customers the side dishes they promise, and also demanding tips. They are happy when people order main dishes, but will give attitude when you ask for the sides. Does anyone else have this problem? I wish they would treat everyone fairly.
