Canada's Wonderland roller coaster faces uncertain future amid closure rumours

If online chatter is to be believed, Canada's Wonderland's iconic Wilde Beast ride could be bidding farewell to park guests at the end of the 2026 season.

The park has been in the news recently after operations of two of its Big 3 roller coasters, Leviathan and Behemoth, were halted following a tragic accident at Six Flags Over Georgia earlier this month, and now even more ride rumours are sparking discussion.

Amusement Insider, a trusted digital channel dedicated to amusement parks and roller coasters, shared a rumour about the impending closure of the Wilde Beast ride on Instagram.

The post's caption reads: "Wilde Beast could be giving its final ride in its current form at the end of this season," hinting at major changes to the 45-year-old wooden roller coaster, a fixture at the park since Canada's Wonderland first opened.

Avid parkgoers have since flooded the comments section expressing disappointment over the possible end of the thrill ride. "Nooo! I love that ride…I went on it 30 times this season; it's so rough!," someone said. "We chose to keep Top Gun/Flight Deck and scrap this? Tragic," another wrote.

The rumour has left fans divided over the future of the 82-foot-high coaster. While some believe this could mark the end of an era, others suggest the ride may simply be undergoing mechanical upgrades, similar to those seen on other coasters in recent past.

Comments like "Retrack like Minebuster," and "It's just [going] thru upgrades," have also appeared among the more than 300 comments on Amusement Insider's post.

A Canada's Wonderland spokesperson neither confirmed nor denied the news, simply saying there is currently "no information to share about future attractions or work on existing attractions," leaving the speculation to continue.

For now, roller coaster enthusiasts and regular Canada's Wonderland visitors will have to wait for more information to see what's next for Wilde Beast.
