A fatal incident on a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia has forced Canada's Wonderland to close two of its most popular thrill rides.
Both Leviathan and Behemoth are indefinitely closed following an incident aboard the Georgia-based Goliath that left one passenger dead and several others injured on Monday.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily closed similar attractions across our parks," Grace Peacock, Director of Marketing, Sales, & Communications at Six Flags, tells blogTO. She adds that the safety of the park's guests is a top priority of "utmost importance."
As the investigation continues, few details are available about what happened aboard the coaster as it made its steep, 200-foot climb before a passenger plummeted to his death. It also remains unclear how the other riders sustained their injuries.
Leviathan and Behemoth have both had a tumultuous summer, and this latest incident forcing the closure of the rides emphasizes that, even with the ride failures occurring at another Six Flags property, rider safety is being taken very seriously by park management.
"It's the right choice, never an issue being overly cautious...They will do everything they can to understand what went wrong and make the necessary modifications if needed to ensure the rides you ride are safe," a Redditor commented on a thread about the closures.
"It's pretty standard procedure to close all similar rides from a manufacturer if there's an incident where it's not immediately apparent it wasn't the ride's fault," someone else wrote.
With the 2026 season nearing its end, it remains unclear whether the investigation will be completed in time for coaster lovers to enjoy two of the park's most beloved attractions one last time this year.
