It was a rough weekend for Canada's Wonderland. In addition to the scrapped opening of the Vaughan attraction's Splash Works water park, Wonderland suffered two major ride failures over the weekend in a pair of its flagship roller coasters, with guests briefly left stranded on one of the malfunctioning rides.
Several videos emerged on Saturday showing Leviathan and Behemoth experiencing "valleying" incidents, in which the coasters lacked momentum to complete their cycles, coming to a stop in dips (or 'valleys') in the track.
Videos of the valleying coasters show both Leviathan and Behemoth trains failing to make it around the track.

The ride stoppages occurred during unseasonably cool weather, and during a torrential downpour with high winds — all factors which can contribute to coasters valleying.

While the videos are a bit unnerving to watch, and must have been all the more terrifying for riders on board, Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock stresses that these incidents do not pose a risk for guests.
"Due to cold and gusty weather, these two rides did not complete their typical cycles, but there is no safety concern," Peacock tells blogTO.
Peacock explains that while there were no riders on board Behemoth at the time of its valleying incident, six parkgoers on Leviathan "were unloaded safely and accommodated by park staff."
Peacock explains that these issues are treated seriously by park operator Six Flags, stating that "The safety of our guests and employees remains a key priority."
