Toronto Maple Leafs Crocker

Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly found Joe Bowen's replacement

It's a new era for Toronto Maple Leafs radio broadcasts.

With the legendary Joe Bowen retiring after the conclusion of last season, the Leafs were tasked with finding somebody new to fill the role. Whoever they choose will have some massive shoes to fill, and it appears the team already has a name in mind.

On Friday, the Toronto Star's Jonah Sigel reported that Todd Crocker will be taking over as the voice of the Maple Leafs and will join the NHL radio booth next to Jim Ralph this upcoming season.

Maple Leafs fans may recognize Crocker from his work with the AHL's Toronto Marlies. The 59-year-old broadcaster has been the voice of the Marlies for over a decade, having been with the Leafs' affiliate since the 2013-14 season.

Before that, Crocker was a longtime broadcaster for the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, having served in that position between 1997-98 and 2012-13.

This won't be the first time that Crocker has called NHL games for the Leafs. The veteran broadcaster has filled in for Bowen on occasion over the years and made his NHL debut all the way back during the 2018-19 season.

Though Crocker has proven to be more than capable of being an NHL broadcaster, fans will still have a bit of an adjustment. Bowen had been in the Leafs radio chair for the past 44 years and had called over 3,800 games for Toronto.

With the Maple Leafs welcoming in first-overall pick Gavin McKenna, this upcoming season will be a fresh start in more ways than one.
