Toronto Tempo Kiki Rice

Toronto Tempo player from U.S. can't stand stopping for TTC streetcars

What is more Toronto than hating on the TTC?

The transit system is a source of frustration for many within the city, and  professional athletes are no exception. We already know that new Toronto Maple Leafs forward Teddy Blueger isn't a fan of traffic in the city, and now, a WNBA player for the Toronto Tempo has entered the chat.

The sixth-overall pick in the 2026 draft, Kiki Rice, has been in Toronto for only about six months since the Tempo drafted her in April, but it didn't take long for her to earn her true Toronto stripes.

The California native took to TikTok last week, where she revealed her favourite and least-favourite things about living in Toronto. Of course, the TTC made its way onto the unfavourable list.

"Bro, the TTC makes driving frustrating, always having to stop," a frustrated Rice captioned one of the photos on the TikTok post.

Luckily, the TTC has not completely soured Rice on life in Toronto. The post also included a lot of positives about the city, including a beautiful skyline, Blue Jays games, the nightlife (with a specific shout-out to The Cactus Club), as well as the diverse food scene.

"Food is great, and it's a super diverse city, so you can find just about anything you want," Rice wrote.

Alongside the TTC on her list of least-favourite aspects was the cold weather, which makes sense given her California roots, her experience dealing with Air Canada, and the lack of acceptable breakfast sandwiches.

"OMG Air Canada, don't get me started," Rice captioned a photo on her post. "Also sucks going through customs every time you come from the U.S."

Though it's been a disappointing season for the 11-33 Tempo in their inaugural WNBA season, Rice has been a bright spot for the team as a rookie. She ranks third on the Tempo in average points per game at 13.4 and is averaging 3.5 assists per game.
