Toronto's ongoing skyscraper boom has thrust the city's skyline into the clouds.
The last few years of skyline growth dramatically altered the landscape, producing the country's two new tallest buildings along the way, and Toronto is only growing more vertical by the year.
Canada's largest city still has a long way to go to match the towering heights of skyscraper havens like New York, but Toronto has grown from a small blip on the radar of tall building construction to one of the most prominent players in the game.
In fact, the city is now home to nine of the top 100 tallest buildings on the continent — and still retains North America's tallest freestanding structure in the CN Tower.
New York's One World Trade Center has held the title of the tallest building in North America since it was completed in 2014. The 104-storey office tower is the seventh-tallest in the world, at a height of 541 metres. New York is also home to the continent's second-tallest, the 2020-completed Central Park Tower, which rises 98 storeys to a height of 472 metres.
Chicago's Sears Tower is the third-tallest in North America at 442.1 metres, though its 110 floors are the most of any building on the continent. The entire top 11 of the list is dominated by New York and Chicago, though Toronto is well represented in the rest of the top 100.
Here are the nine Toronto buildings that rank among the tallest 100 in North America:
Toronto is also a strong presence just beyond the top 100, with Commerce Court West (103rd), CIBC Square I and Harbour Plaza Residences East (tied at 107th), and TD Terrace (sharing 108th place with another tower in Minneapolis) rounding out the top 110 tallest.
