This Week in Music: All Our Happy Days Are Stupid, Drake at the ACC, Franz Ferdinand hits the Kool Haus

This Week in Music rounds up the latest news, releases and concerts coming to Toronto.

IN THE NEWS

All Our Happy Days Are Stupid set to run in Toronto

All Our Happy Days Are Stupid is a musical play written by Sheila Heti, with music provided by Destroyer frontman Dan Bejar. The play was written a few years back but a number of setbacks prevented it from being produced, and Bejar's tracks ended up on Destroyer albums. But now the production, directed by Jordan Tannahill, will run from October 24 to November 3 at Toronto's Videofag. The official synopsis: "The play's surreal narrative follows the Oddis and the Sings, two families on vacation in Paris, France. But far from the blissful respite they seek, their holidays become their undoing." Full details can be found here, but the bad news is this run is sold out (here's hoping for round two).

THIS WEEK'S HOT TICKETS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 24 / FRANZ FERDINAND / KOOL HAUS / 132 QUEENS QUAY E / $48.55 / 19+

I've been a fan of Franz Ferdinand since the beginning, and while they may have never reached the heights that they seemed capable of after the release of their self-titled debut album in 2004, they're still great live. The band is currently touring in support of their fourth album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, which came out a couple of months ago.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 24 / DRAKE / AIR CANADA CENTRE / 40 BAY / $76.75 - $495 / ALL AGES

I know, I know, you're probably all sick of us mentioning Drake on a near-weekly basis. But the fact of the matter is regardless of what you think about the guy's music, he's the biggest star to come out of Toronto in recent memory. And since this is the 'Hot Ticket' section of the blog — well, there won't be a hotter ticket than this all week. If you're a fan then you've probably already got yours (I'd love to know who in their right mind would buy that max ticket price of $495.)
