Toronto Boys Without Girls Video

Toronto gets a video worthy of Flight of the Conchords

A Toronto trio called Plum Thunder has just dropped quite the ode to the city that riffs off Flight of the Conchords' "Inner City Pressure" (which, in turn, riffs off of Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls").

The Toronto-themed "Boys Without Girls" takes viewers on a tour of the city — from The Rex to Roncy, to the ever-iconic Bessarion Station — all while the lyricists lament "a dead-end job in Toronto" and express profound longing for female companionship.

They nail the neighbourhood stereotypes, suggesting a drum circle in Trinity Bellwoods Park, cheese sampling in Leslieville, and so forth, but the subtle gem that spoke to me was the reference to "casual sex" paired with a pan of a moving subway car. As if we had forgotten what happened at Spadina Station a few months ago...

Enjoy the sporadic breakdancing.
