Toronto's Matty Matheson interrupted with kiss during Emmy acceptance speech

Toronto chef and restaurateur-turned-actor/producer Matty Matheson had another big night at the 75th Emmy Awards on Monday when his smash hit FX dramedy The Bear took home six awards — though his moment in the sun was hilariously interrupted by an ambush kiss planted by co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Matheson took to the stage to accept the award for best comedy series, though he only made it about a half sentence into his thank you speech before Moss-Bachrach swooped in for an unexpected kiss.

"What's good? I just want to thank restaurants as a whole, hospitality as a whole —" said Matheson, when an elated Moss-Bachrach interrupted Matheson, grabbing his face and planting a big kiss directly on the mouth of the Toronto food legend to thundering applause and laughter from the crowd.

When the extended smooch finally concluded, Matheson threw in an "I love you, Ebon" for good measure, as Moss-Bachrach urged him to continue his speech.

"I just love restaurants so much. The good, the bad. It's rough. We're all broken inside, and every single day, we've got to show up and cook and make people feel good by eating something and sitting at a table," the Canadian chef went on.

"And it's really beautiful. And all of us here get to make a show together, and we get to make people feel good or feel anxiety or triggered, it seems, but this is really amazing, it's beautiful, the cast and crew, there are so many people who make this show happen every day."

"We're shooting on a soundstage. It's really cool. I've never been on one before. I've never acted before. I love all these people so much."

Matheson then broke out into his trademark shouting, thanking the many who had a hand in this award.

But the kiss came up yet again later in the evening when Matheson and Moss-Bachrach were given the chance to elaborate on their tender moment in the spotlight together.

"It was nice," Matheson said of the kiss. Ebon Moss-Bachrach had a bit more to say about the viral moment, joking, "it was a blur, I had my eyes closed, I think Matty had his eyes closed too."

"Time stopped, I don't know how many years went by."
