'Grey's Anatomy' star Patrick Dempsey surprises group of Toronto university students
Patrick Dempsey may only play a doctor on TV (or he did, at least), but that didn't make a group of aspiring physical therapists at the University of Toronto any less excited when he made a surprising appearance between classes.
Here's one way to take the sting out of the back-to-school season: exit your lecture and find yourself face-to-face with Patrick Dempsey.
That's exactly what happened for a group of UofT PT students who stumbled upon the star filming outside of the school's rehab building near the corner of Elm and Edward Streets. Hey, maybe he was able to teach them a thing or two about anatomy.
The UofT PT school shared the encounter to its Instagram account with the caption, "You never know who you'll run into at PT school…"
"Our physio students got an unexpected celebrity encounter when Patrick Dempsey was filming outside the rehab building! After filming wrapped, the group introduced themselves as phsyio [sic] students - and he jumped through the barrier to take some photos," the caption goes on to read.
During the unplanned appearance, Dempsey posed for photos with scores of giddy students and chatted them up. There's no word on whether any of the students happened to be carrying a copy of their Gray's Anatomy textbook to be autographed, but it's nice to dream.
Best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd (or "McDreamy") on "Grey's Anatomy", the actor is in Toronto filming the second season of his FOX procedural "Memory of a Killer," and, with filming set to wrap this December, there may be more McDreamy sightings in store for us yet.
