People chime in on the best places to film every genre of movie in Toronto

Toronto is probably the closest thing Canada has to Hollywood (well, us and Vancouver, anyway), and the city offers limitless options for filmmakers looking to capture the perfect atmosphere for just about any genre.

blogTO hit the streets during the 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to ask local film buffs where they'd shoot the perfect scene in the 416.

For horror, some went the haunting historical route with suggestions like Casa Loma or the Distillery District, while others used the question as an opportunity to make fun of the infamous Queen and Spadina McDonald's. We might stick to our own recommendations for this genre.

For action movies, the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto was a popular theme, with suggestions like Sankofa Square, through the catwalks of the Rogers Centre's dome, and amid the tall towers of the Financial District.

When it comes to romance, High Park was a popular suggestion, along with Queen Street West. As for drama filming locations, multiple locals suggested moody spots like Humber Bay.
