This hidden cafe in an Ontario flower shop just might be its city's best-kept secret

If you ever find yourself visiting The Watering Can, a European-inspired flower market in the Ontario city of Vineland, you may stumble upon The Bistro, a tucked-away cafe within the nursery.

Known for its aesthetic take on the traditional Dutch flower markets, The Watering Can offers more than just a wide selection of florals. It has become a destinatio in the Niagara region, where visitors slow down to soak in the tropical ambiance while enjoying a drink that completes the experience.

The cafe features three curated menus, with lunch offerings that go beyond light bites. Guests can select from salads, wraps, sandwiches, shareable plates, and even classic breakfast options, perfect for early risers.

And of course, no quaint cafe is complete without sweet treats. The Bistro's dessert selection includes cheesecakes, cookies, squares, and butter tarts. Pair your pick with a specialty drink, and it's easy to turn a simple visit into something special.

Like many cafes, The Bistro offers first-come, first-served seating, and does not accept reservations. Due to its popularity, especially during Mother's Day and the holidays, wait times can be expected.

However, reservations are available for the Garden Tea Experience, a high tea service set in the lush floral setting, featuring a selection of 15 teas. It's a perfect option for celebrating special milestones.

The Watering Can opened its first location in St. Catharines in 1996 bringing a taste of European flower markets right here in Ontario. Its success led to the opening of a second location in Vineland a few years later, where the family-owned business also introduced The Bistro.
