If street meat and ballpark franks haven't been hitting for you this summer, there's a luxe new dog on the menu at a Toronto steakhouse that might just knock it out of the park.
You've seen the $1,000 Surf and Turf platter and the $7,000 cocktail that comes served with a custom tennis bracelet in lieu of the traditional garnishes: now King West's Animl Steakhouse has added a $126 hot dog to the menu. Compared to its forebearers, it almost seems downright affordable.
Former Blue Jays star Bo Bichette may be in an Empire State of mind playing on the New York Mets these days, but Toronto — and, perhaps most accutely of all, the team at Animl — haven't forgotten what he meant to us.
An outspoken fan of Animl, Bichette was even offered free steak for life from the restaurant should he re-sign with the Jays during his free agency following the 2025 MLB season.
Spoiler alert: the offer wasn't enough to make the third baseman stick around, but that's not stopping his friends at Animl from celebrating him when, starting June 29, he's back in town while the Jays go head-to-head with the Mets.
Enter, The Bo Dog. A $126 piece of pure hedonism, this is a far cry from your average Loonie Dog. Instead, the dish consists of a wagyu wiener topped with truffle corn relish, butter-poached lobster and seared foie gras. Because nothing screams baseball like truffles, lobster and foie gras.
Though the dog is inarguably ostentatious, Animl isn't offering it up merely for the sake of it. 100 per cent of proceeds from every Bo Dog sold will be donated to Bichette's charity, geared towards supporting children with disabilities.
The Bo Dog will be available June 29 through July 1, during the Mets' visit to Toronto.
Animl Steakhouse is located at 420A Wellington St. W.
