A pizza chain that shuttered its last Toronto location in late 2025 has at least one vocal supporter who wants it to make a comeback.
Finding and declaring your favourite pizza restaurant in Toronto is an experience that nearly everyone in the city — nay, the world — knows well.
In a city that has a halfway decent pizzeria on nearly every corner, and at least one exceptional one per neighbourhood, it's simply tradition to plant one's flag on the pizzeria of one's preference, whether you're of the old-school pizzeria persuasion (Oakwood Pizzeria, Danforth Pizza House), succumb to hyped-up spots like Badiali and North of Brooklyn, or prefer more under-the-radar gems like Gram's and Mac's.
For some people, for whatever reason, it's pizza chains that have their hearts, and one Toronto resident is trying their darndest to bring a chain that recently vacated the city altogether back.
It's only been a handful of months since the LeBron James-backed Blaze Pizza shuttered its last remaining Toronto location, but, according to a recent Change.org petition, one anonymous Blaze enthusiast is already feeling the chain's absence.
"There's something incredibly special about Blaze Pizza. For me, it wasn't just about grabbing a slice; it was an experience, a tradition, and most importantly, a culinary delight," reads the description of the petition, entitled "Bring Back Blaze Pizza in Toronto."
"Blaze Pizza became an intrinsic part of Toronto's vibrant food scene with its unique offerings and exceptional service. Unfortunately, its closure left a palpable void for many pizza lovers across the city," reads the petition.
"Toronto, known for its diverse and rich culinary landscape, deserves to have this iconic pizzeria back!"
The description goes on to cite "numerous fans" who similarly feel the pizzeria's absence in the city, emboldening readers to join the charge in fighting to secure Blaze Pizza's return.
A post on Reddit, where the petition was shared, yielded mixed responses from the general public.
"It is so funny seeing what people use Change.org for these days," one person jokes.
"Omg I didnt know they shut down the Yonge-Dundas location too. That's sad, I really liked their pizza. I almost went today too but changed my mind," writes a fellow fan.
Others are quick to point out the similarities between Blaze Pizza's build-your-own-pie approach to similar spots in the city, like PiCo and DoughBox, though, to Blaze Pizza devotees, no substitute could possibly measure up.
"I feel like Pico's base sauce and pesto sauces aren't as tangy and savoury/garlicy/spicy as Blaze's, it's a taste preference ig. My palette aligns more with Blaze's. Pico's never my go to cause there's Badiali, North of Brooklyn, detroit and Maker, etc.," one Reddit user explains, adding, "Blaze supremacy."
At the time of publication, the petition, which has been live for nearly two weeks, has garnered 33 signatures, so a Toronto Blaze revival based on fan outcry alone seems unlikely, but hey, I'm always game for more pizza.
