Toronto Food Events: TUM, Chicken Fry-Up, Gluten Free Garage, Chowder Chowdown, Tacos for Tacloban

Toronto Food Events rounds up the most delicious events, festivals, pop-ups, winemaker dinners, supper clubs and other food related happenings in Toronto this week and next. You can find us here every Friday morning.

THIS WEEK

  • The Gourmet Food & Wine Expo continues through 'til the end of the weekend on Sunday, November 17th at will the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front Street).
  • Gilead Cafe (4 Gilead Place) hosts a Chicken Fry-Up tonight, Friday November 15th from 6pm to 10 pm. Fried chicken and wings are on the menu plus $5 beers.
  • The last Toronto Underground Market of the season is this Saturday, November 16th at the Evergreen Brickworks (550 Bayview Avenue) from 5pm to 10pm. Tickets are $22.60 and still available.
  • Gluten Free Garage brings together speakers, foodtrucks, family friendly activites and gluten-free vendors on Sunday, November 17th at Artscape Wychwood Barns (601 Christie Street) from 10am to 4pm.
  • La Joie de Vivre aux Chocolat tasting menu presented by Eyal Liebman, Abbey's Kitchen and Stanners Vineyard still has a few seats left for the sweet and savoury chocolate dinner happening Monday, November 18th at Playful Grounds (605 College Street). The six-course dinner starts at 6:30 pm and costs $70, plus $30 for five wine pairings.
  • Tickets ($56.50) are still available for the Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown happening in the Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery Historic District on Tuesday November 19th at 7pm. Admission includes a chance to sample and vote on a dozen chowder and beer pairings.
  • Sliced and Thomas Lavers host a Canning Workshop on November 20th at 6pm. Tickets for this make-and-take event are $60 and will send participants home with 3 preserves. Plus there will be wine and snacks.

UPCOMING

  • The Depanneur (1033 College Street) presents Karachi to Khaiber by Nasir Zuberi on Saturday, November 23rd. The traditional Pakastani dinner starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $40 and it's BYOB, no corkage fee.
  • Playa Cabana Hacienda (14 Dupont Street) hosts Tacos for Tacloban on Monday, November 25th. Starting at 6pm, 100% of sales will be donated to relief efforts in the Philippines.
  • FoodShare Toronto, with support from the Heart and Stroke Foundation hosts Say Yes! to Good, Healthy Food in Schools on Thursday, November 28th from 6pm to 8pm at 90 Croatia Street. FoodShare's Executive Director, Debbie Field and special guests will share their visions for the future of school food.
