Toronto hospital named best in the world in this category

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) was just crowned the world's best children's hospital for the second consecutive year.

SickKids took the top spot among more than 250 paediatric hospitals worldwide in the annual ranking from Newsweek and Statista. 

This year's ranking marks the third time the facility has been named the world's best, and the first time it has landed the title in back-to-back years. SickKids has now held a position within the top two rankings for six consecutive years.

"Being No. 1 is an extraordinary honour. Achieving No. 1 back-to-back reflects the excellence, dedication and shared purpose that define SickKids every day," says Dr. Ronald Cohn, President and CEO of SickKids. 

"This recognition belongs to the staff, trainees, volunteers, donors and community who stand behind our mission and make our work for children and families possible." 

SickKids' latest ranking comes months after another Toronto hospital was named among the best in the world.

University Health Network's Toronto General Hospital was named the second-best hospital in the world back in February, the highest position ever claimed by a Canadian hospital. Toronto General climbed from its number-three ranking in 2024 and 2025.

The annual World's Best Hospitals ranking, compiled by Newsweek and Statista, evaluated over 2,500 hospitals across 30 countries, with Toronto General beaten out by only the world-famous Mayo Clinic - in Rochester, New York.
