toronto trick or treating

These are the best Toronto neighbourhoods for trick-or-treating according to residents

Halloween is right around the corner in Toronto, and while many of us may have aged out of knocking on doors and demanding candy, it sure is fun to reminisce on the good old days. Now we're the ones who have to give the candy out? Sigh.

Whether you'll be accompanying a wee witch, zombie or superhero on their trick-or-treating endeavours this Oct. 31, will be doing the trick-or-treating yourself (in which case, what are you doing on blogTO? Go play outside), or just want to relive the days when you could, it's always prudent to know which areas in the city will yield the sweetest results.

And who better than the city's own residents to steer you in the right direction? blogTO took to the Toronto streets to ask people their picks for preferred trick-or-treating locales, and you'll want to stash their answers away for all of your future ventures.

Plenty of people were quick to note that "rich neighbourhoods" (one cites Bloor-Yonge, and another, The Bridle Path) are likely to have a better candy selection — i.e., full bars — than... less rich neighbourhoods, I suppose?

Another respondent says that she recalls scoring full-sized candy bars in her old neighbourhood of Avenue and Lawrence.

Others recommend heading anywhere outside the downtown core — especially King West, where blogTO's interviews were conducted. Instead, they encourage aspiring trick-or-treaters to explore the likes of Wychwood, Riverside and The Kingsway. If you want my pick, it's The Beaches all the way.
