go transit closures this weekend

Two entire train routes in and out of Toronto will be closed all weekend

GO Transit closures this weekend include two entire lines set to be taken out of service.

Metrolinx plans to halt service on its Lakeshore East and Stouffville lines for the entire weekend of Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, combining for approximately 100 kilometres of closed track.

Here's everything you need to know to navigate the coming disruption.

Lakeshore East Line

The entire 50.5-kilometre length of the Lakeshore East Line will close this weekend due to planned construction work.

Commuters relying on the route will instead be crammed into replacement buses running on three routes connecting Whitby GO, Pickering GO, and Ajax GO with the Union Station bus terminal in downtown Toronto.

Stouffville Line

The full 49.6-kilometre Stouffville Line will shut down this weekend due to planned construction along the route.

There will be no GO train service on the line, with replacement buses set to serve Old Elm GO, making all stops to Unionville GO, then running direct to Union Station Bus Terminal.

Replacement buses will not serve Milliken, Agincourt, and Kennedy GO, and commuters requiring access to these stations are instead advised to rely on local TTC routes.

The pair of GO Transit closures will be compounded by a planned shutdown of a portion of the TTC's Line 2 Bloor-Danforth route, further complicating commutes in the region, especially for those relying on combined GO-TTC trips.
