The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) shut down early on Wednesday following a huge thunderstorm that left much of downtown Toronto swamped.
The CNE announced just after 7 p.m. that it had opted to shut down the Exhibition grounds at 7 p.m., and all buildings at 8 p.m. "Due to ongoing severe weather conditions impacting the operation of the CNE and for the safety of our staff, partners and guests."
Gates typically close at 10 p.m. and the grounds close at 10 p.m.
The Ex also advised that the Bell SOUNDSTAGE at the Bandshell Concert scheduled for Wednesday evening is also cancelled, with organizers adding, "We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding."
The same storm left 65,000 without power on Wednesday evening, and caused widespread flooding in the downtown core.
