A series of planned TTC closures and service disruptions could pose a nasty trick to commuters trying to get around for the upcoming Halloween weekend.
Whether your weekend plans are business as usual or skew a little more ghoulish in honour of the spooky holiday, you'll want to stay in the loop so you can get to all the monster mashes and freaky festivities you've got on your schedule.
Lucky for Toronto transit users, the disruptions to TTC service this weekend are relatively temporary compared to other weekends that have seen lengthy stretches of the subway close for days on end.
Here are the TTC closures you should be aware of this weekend.
A stretch of Line 2 between St George and Broadview stations will close early in the evening of Friday, Oct. 30, for planned maintenance work.
Service on that stretch of the Bloor-Danforth line will wrap up at 10 p.m., and Bay and Sherbourne stations will close. The Yonge Street entrance to Bloor-Yonge station will also be closed, but all other stations will remain open for customers to purchase and load PRESTO cards, buy tickets, or access surface transit routes like buses and streetcars.
Shuttle buses will be running along the inactive route, and regular service is expected to resume around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
You may want to put your Daylight Saving Time brunch plans on hold this Sunday, as a major stretch of Line 2 will have a delayed opening that day.
Subway service between Jane and Ossington stations will get a late start at 12 p.m. for planned track work. During that time, Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne and Dufferin stations will be closed, as will the Indian Grove entrance to Keele station.
All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase and load PRESTO cards, buy tickets, or access surface transit routes, and shuttle buses will run along the route for the duration of the delay.
Whatever you're doing and wherever you're going this Halloween weekend, make sure to plan ahead, and you shouldn't be in for too many subway scares.
