ttc subway closure this weekend

TTC to shut down major stretch of subway this weekend

TTC closures this weekend will cause major disruption on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, a route that has already experienced numerous unplanned and scheduled outages in recent weeks.

The transit agency had planned to shut down just over seven kilometres of track will shut down on Line 2 from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8, to Saturday, May 9, 2026, but has since updated its planned closures.

The previously-planned outage was to affect a five-station stretch spanning from Woodbine in the west to Kennedy in the east — essentially cutting off subway access to all of Scarborough.

The TTC has instead announced that it will shut down service on Line 2 between Kipling to Jane stations starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9, citing planned signal work for the closure.

Service on Line 2 is expected to be fully restored by 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 10 — so don't stress about making it to that Mother's Day brunch on time!
