canadas wonderland wilde beast

One of Canada's Wonderland's oldest coasters may get huge change

Canada's Wonderland seems intent on revamping its age-old roller coasters.

Following major overhauls to DareDeviler (formerly known as Flight Deck) and Mighty Canadian Minebuster, the rumour mill suggests Wilde Beast could be next in line for a complete makeover.

Amusement Insiders, which covers amusement park news across North America, has picked up on rumours that this week may be the last chance for parkgoers to ride Wilde Beast in its current form. The coaster, which has often generated poor reviews for its rough and rickety ride experience, could be getting a major transformation in the months to come.

Amusement Insiders suggests that the 45-year-old coaster is about to "completely change forever," and if the claims are accurate, Wilde Beast could get a makeover similar to its wooden counterpart, Mighty Canadian Minebuster, with possible layout changes.

The reimagining of the ride, one of Canada's Wonderland's original attractions since the park opened in 1981, will apparently feature a drop that is 10 degrees steeper than it is now.

Other rumours suggest that the coaster's lift hill will remain intact while the rest of the ride is rebuilt, potentially meaning that the adjacent area may be cleared to accommodate the changes.

Once complete, the revamped coaster will apparently resemble Grizzly at Kings Dominion, a theme park in Doswell, Virginia. The ride was once a clone of Wilde Beast in its current form but underwent a major refurbishment ahead of the 2023 season, including retracking and an increased first drop.

While speculation continues, Canada's Wonderland is maintaining a neutral stance on the reports.

"We are always exploring ways to enhance our park offerings and guest experience," a park spokesperson confirms to blogTO. "While we don't have any information to share at this time, we look forward to announcing future plans when details are finalized," they concluded.

Could this week actually be the final opportunity to experience Canada's Wonderland's Wilde Beast in its current state? With no telltale signs confirming the claims, avid parkgoers will have to watch for further updates.
