Kevin Gausman had Toronto on his mind this Halloween.
The former Blue Jays pitcher is set to become a free agent this week, and rumours have been floating about a potential return to Toronto. Those rumours got some extra fuel when Gausman's wife, Taylor, shared a photo of the family trick-or-treating for Halloween on Saturday night.
The 35-year-old pitcher could have worn anything, but he opted to break out an Auston Matthews Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. You can take Gausman out of Toronto, but it doesn't appear you can take the Toronto out of Gausman.

It remains unknown where the family spent their Halloween. The photo doesn't look like Toronto, which could mean it may have been taken at Gausman's offseason home in Louisiana.
Gausman's last game with the Blue Jays was in August, before he was traded to the Chicago Cubs shortly before the MLB trade deadline. The Jays were not expected to push for a playoff spot, and opted to move on from the pending free agent.
From there, Gausman helped bolster a Cubs team that did wind up making it to the postseason. The former Blue Jays pitcher posted a 4.83 ERA and a 4-3 record through 50.1 innings of regular-season ball in Chicago and lost his one postseason start. The Cubs eventually bowed out after getting swept by the San Diego Padres in the NL Wildcard series.
The Jays could use a player like Gausman going into the 2027 season. Toronto's rotation currently features Dylan Cease, Trey Yesavage, and José Soriano as locks, while players like Cody Ponce, José Berrios, and Spencer Arrighetti have the potential to join that group.
Gausman may be getting up there in age, but he has still put up impressive results and is a very reliable veteran arm. It helps that he already has an affinity and familiarity with the organization.
Though it would be a welcome return for a lot of Blue Jays fans, it shouldn't be forgotten that Gausman recently put his $6.8 million Toronto mansion up for sale, which could signal that he has his sights set elsewhere.
No matter what happens, Jays fans will be rooting for the very best for Gausman and his family moving forward, knowing that Toronto holds a special place in his heart.
