Scottie Barnes pulls off relatable dad move after Toronto Raptors game

Just minutes after the Toronto Raptors beat the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, Scottie Barnes had to step straight into dad mode.

A video shared by the Raptors on social media showed Barnes spending time with his two-year-old daughter, Milli, in the Raptors locker room following their 30-point win. The two shared a funny exchange that plenty of parents of young kids will undoubtedly be able to relate to.

The 25-year-old was sitting at his locker enjoying a post-game recovery shake when Milli insisted she wanted some, too.

First, she asked her dad if it was water. Barnes said no.

"It's a milkshake," the two-time All-Star replied.

Barnes quickly realized he'd made a mistake by calling it a milkshake, as Milli became fixated on getting her hands on it.

Looking for a way to put an end to her begging for it, Barnes took a page straight out of the universal parenting playbook.

"It's spicy," he told her.

The clip made the rounds on social media, with plenty of Raptors fans who are parents applauding Barnes' approach.

"That's a classic parent move," one fan wrote.

"You gotta lie to them otherwise, they'll be begging forever," another commented.

Barnes and his partner, Alyssa Rae Holmes, welcomed Milli to the world before the start of the 2024-25 season.

Barnes has been spotted spending some quality time with his daughter around Toronto in recent months. In September, Milli was on her dad's lap while courtside at a Toronto Tempo game.

The Raptors are back in action on Friday night at Scotiabank Arena with another game against the Orlando Magic.
