The upcoming season at Canada's Wonderland has been highly anticipated, with rumours swirling that the 330-acre theme park could be getting what reports describe as a "record-breaking water attraction."
First announced in 2024, Six Flags' $1 billion investment to enhance guest experiences across its parks included a major new water attraction at Canada's Wonderland.
However, parkgoers have been questioning whether the project would ever see the light of day in the time since.
"I remember reading that Canada's Wonderland is getting a record-breaking water attraction," one Redditor commented, wondering if it's still in the works, sparking confusion among others.
While some users remained hopeful that an announcement was imminent, others were not. "It's not happening because of all the cuts, and Alpen has attracted all the people they need right now," another user wrote.
And, as it turns out, they were right.
"As we review timing and priorities, we have decided not to move forward with the water attraction for the upcoming season," Grace Peacock, Director of Public Relations at Canada's Wonderland, confirmed to blogTO.
"Following last year's major investment in our record-breaking roller coaster AlpenFury, we remain focused on delivering exceptional new experiences," added Peacock.
While Peacock did not elaborate on what those experiences might be, she noted that more details will be shared in the coming months.
AlpenFury opened to the public on Jul. 12, 2025, following lengthy delays. Known for being the tallest, longest, and fastest launching coaster in the country, it is also the park's 18th roller coaster overall and remains one of its most in-demand attractions.
As for whether the much-discussed "record-breaking water attraction" will ever join the park's lineup, that remains to be seen. For now, the project is officially off the table for the upcoming season.
The 2026 season at Canada's Wonderland officially kicks off on May 3.
