Massive Toronto festival will shut down major street this month

Toronto's Roncesvalles neighbourhood is getting ready to host one of its biggest street festivals of the year, as the 2026 Roncesvalles Polish Festival returns to the city later this month.

The free two-day celebration will take over Roncesvalles Avenue with all things synonymous with Polish culture, including folk performances, polka, brass bands, and, perhaps most importantly, some of the last outdoor fun before the deep freeze arrives in the months to come.

Beyond music and entertainment, this year's event, celebrating 20 years in Toronto, will feature 40 local restaurants and bakeries, 150 small businesses, and a vendor exhibition with 90 merchants offering both international and Polish fare.

Organizers are also setting up four stages across the grounds, and 40 performances are scheduled throughout the weekend-long extravaganza. A full list of talent is yet to be announced.

The festival is set to feature midway rides, games, inflatables, and canine stunt shows, as well as Reptilia's travelling reptile zoo exhibit.

The 2026 Roncesvalles Polish Festival is set to take place on Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take over the entire stretch of Roncesvalles Avenue, from Queen Street West to Dundas Street West. The area will be a pedestrian-only stomping ground, with organizers expecting over 600,000 people to attend throughout the weekend. 

Roncesvalles Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic for the duration of the event.
