Historic Toronto landmark will host massive immersive light show next month

CELESTIA, an immersive light and music show that made waves with its debut in Denver this past summer, launches its Canadian run at Toronto's Cathedral Church of St. James next month.

"The Cathedral Church of St. James was a natural fit for CELESTIA because it is one of the city's most historic landmarks. Its architecture, acoustics and history shape the content of the Toronto installation," Alexis Bowles, Executive Producer, CELESTIA, tells blogTO.

Described as a "seated, multisensory arts experience," the attraction combines music, lights and 360-degree projections to highlight the church's architecture, home to Toronto's oldest congregation.

Bowles says that the installation invites "guests to slow down, take in the storytelling and experience a sense of wonder, reflection and connection as the emotional journey unfolds all around them."

The show, which runs about 45 minutes, takes audiences through five acts — Awakening, Becoming, Transformation, Belonging and Radiance — spanning 10 light scenes.

Each phase draws guests deeper into the narrative, culminating in Radiance, the grand finale designed to uplift audiences through its use of striking colours and imagery.

A live choir will also accompany the lights and original music score on select Friday and Saturday nights throughout the installation. More information about these performances is available on the event's calendar.

CELESTIA comes to the Cathedral Church of St. James from Nov. 6 to Jan. 31, 2027. Ticket prices range from $29.72 to $74.92, depending on the experience you select, and are now available to book online.

"For the Canadian debut, we hope Toronto residents and visitors see the cathedral in a new way and discover an experience that feels both connected to the city and unlike anything they may have experienced in the space before," Bowles says.

The Cathedral Church of St. James is located at 106 King St. E.
