Toronto is getting a new winter festival and it includes a massive ice room

The city is adding another seasonal event to its roster of winter activities as Winterista arrives in Toronto later this month.

This brand new festival promises to be a month-long spectacle, transforming the 4,000 square-foot Motorista Studio into a winter wonderland filled with immersive experiences under one scenic setting.

Organizers confirm that guests will have plenty to look forward to at the upcoming festival, which will start with daily live ice-carving shows showcasing the talent of local artists.

Ice appears to be a recurring theme throughout the festival, as there will also be ice sculptures displayed outside the venue, making for great photo ops for anyone looking to snap something for their gram, plus a giant ice slide that organizers are calling "the anchor of Winterista."

And if that's not enough ice for one visit, a projection-mapped ice room is also on the docket. Guests can step into a space where immersive ice visuals are projected onto the walls, creating a surreal, picturesque experience through the movement of colour and light.

Patrons will have the chance to enjoy seasonal treats like maple fudge, fresh waffles, hot chocolate, and warm apple cider available at Winterista's illuminated Ice Bar.

But that's not all.

The festival will also host select adults-only events, including an Apres Ski Coat Party and themed disco nights, with dates still to be announced. Closing out month-long event is an adults-only Fire and Ice Valentine's Day Finale on Feb. 14, featuring fire performers, a DJ, and more unique photo opportunities.

While entry to the attraction is free, themed nights and on-site food will come at an additional cost. Guests can reserve their spot to attend Winterista and look out for more details on daily events on its official website.

Winterista runs from Jan. 23 to Feb. 14, kicking off with an ice-carving event on opening day. For $15, guests can carve a unique piece of art from a block of ice and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

Toronto's newest winter festival, Winterista, will take place at Motorista Studio, located at 45-25 Commercial Rd.
