Ontario destination tops the list of best farm stays to visit in 2026

It seems like "slow travel" will be a popular trend in 2026, with people seeking destinations laden with rest and relaxation, and it turns out one of the best places in the world to do just that is on a farm, right here in Ontario.

Expedia Group's new report, Unpack '26: The Trends in Travel, highlights an interesting trend: travellers are shifting away from crowded tourist hubs and opting for more peaceful getaways in rural locales, away from the hustle and bustle.

One of the biggest trends for the coming year is "Farm Charm," with an influx of travellers expected to book quiet countryside locations over vacations in densely populated tourist centres.

According to the report, 84 per cent of travellers surveyed were interested in staying on or near a farm, and mentions of farms or related experiences in Vrbo guest reviews skyrocketed by a staggering 300 per cent year-over-year.

The Niagara region's picturesque landscapes make it an ideal destination to unwind and find the peace that's hard to come by in megalopolises, so it shouldn't come as a massive surprise that the Lakefront Farm House in Lincoln, Ont. proved the most popular for those planning trips in the new year, ranking the top rural retreat anywhere in the world for 2026.

The top farm charm finds for 2026 are:

  1. Lakefront Farm House, Lincoln, Ont., Canada
  2. Cider Hill Haven, Vermont, U.S.
  3. The Haven at Hills Point Farm, Cambridge, Maryland, U.S.
  4. Moorhall Farm, Worcester, England, U.K.
  5. Barakee Homestead, Rosevale, Queensland, Australia

Alongside "Farm Charm," Expedia's report also highlights several other trends travellers will be indulging in next year, including readaways, fan voyage, salvaged stays, hotel hop, and set-jetting.
