Monthly roller skating parties to take over old Toronto brick factory

Unroll your bell-bottoms and feather your hair because Toronto's Evergreen Brick Works is transforming into a groovy roller-skating party this summer.

Known as Ontario's first mobile roller-skating business, SKATEVAN is bringing its one-of-a-kind skate parties to locations across Southern Ontario, including several stops this season in Toronto at Evergreen Brick Works.

No longer a fad stuck in the '70s, roller skating has made a tremendous comeback as of late, especially in the GTA, given the growing number of businesses like SUSO Skate entering the market. Even Toronto's Union Station transforms a chunk of its space into a roller rink every year.

Fun fact: SKATEVAN is operated by Henry O'Brien and Janine Bartels, the dynamic duo behind SUSO, which first launched at The Bentway in 2021.

In an effort to get more people off their phones and onto the rink, SKATEVAN will host monthly roller-skating parties throughout the summer beginning June 24, with each 45-minute skate session costing just $18.

According to the company's website, the following dates are scheduled at Evergreen Brick Works for summer 2026:

  • Wednesday, June 24: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, July 17: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 28: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 20: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Reservations are expected to open soon. Additional SKATEVAN events are planned for communities, including Stouffville, Collingwood and Newmarket. Get your glowsticks ready for their exciting launch in Toronto next month.

Evergreen Brick Works is located at 550 Bayview Ave.
