Tree-lighting events in Toronto are the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, and there are plenty to check out this year.
While the city is still swept up watching the Blue Jays turn a summer tradition into a late-autumn World Series run, it's easy to forget that winter is fast approaching, and with it, the arrival of tree-lighting festivities.
Here's a list of tree-lighting ceremonies in Toronto that are totally free to attend.
The Distillery Winter Village will host its annual tree lighting ceremony on opening day, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. For those arriving early, the event is preceded by a musical performance by Toronto's Mo Guzman, which starts at 4 p.m.
Location: The Distillery Historic District, located at 55 Mill St.
Join the City of Toronto's annual Cavalcade of Lights when Nathan Phillips Square's Christmas tree and iconic Toronto sign will be illuminated to mark the start of the holiday season. The event takes place on Nov. 29 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: 100 Queen St. W.
This Cavalcade of Lights is happening on Nov. 15 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the lighting ceremony taking place at 5:30 p.m.
Location: Along Yonge St. between Woodland Ave and Crescent Rd.
The Grand Lobby at Fairmont Royal York will host a lighting of the hotel's towering pine with hundreds of bulbs, taking place on Nov. 19. This year, guests can reserve seats to sit on the balcony and get an aerial view of the ceremony, which starts at 5 p.m.
Location: 100 Queen St. W.
This official light ceremony, set to illuminate Bloor Street and the Village of Yorkville Park, takes place on Nov. 22 and will include special performances by singers Shawn Hook and STORRY. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be hosted by TV personality Rick (the temp!) Campanelli.

The opening ceremony of the Cavalcade of Lights at Berczy Park is on Nov. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
