With all of the economic and other stresses facing Canadians right now, it's no wonder that so many are turning to an unexpected altercation between arguably our most famous celebrity and a once-popular politician for a little levity and entertainment this week.
Even if Drake has had a bit of a fall from grace amid his ongoing feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, he still stands as one of the most recognized exports from Toronto and Canada as a whole, serving as a walking advertisement for his hometown as he makes regular references to the city in his music.
So, Lamar stopping in the 6ix on his latest tour while the two are so at odds could be seen as a bit of a slap in the face — and, Drake seems to think that the same can be said for anyone who attended one of his Compton-born adversary's shows, which took place at the Rogers Centre this past Thursday, June 12 and Friday, June 13.
Among those attendees was one politician that, like Drake, has somewhat fallen out of favour lately (at least compared to his viral TikTok days): Jagmeet Singh, who earlier this year had to announce that he was stepping down from leading the NDP after he not only lost his MP seat, but his party performed so badly in the federal election that they lost official party status.
We can now add being the target of Drake's ire to Singh's woes, as the rapper has taken notice of the figure's presence at one of the Lamar concerts late last week.

It appears that Drake got wind of Singh's appearance in the Rogers Centre crowd sometime on Sunday, as he took to Instagram — where he has 142 million followers — that day to call the former leader out.
Drizzy simply posted a screencap of his direct message conversation with Singh as an Instagram story, showing that he had just called Singh "a goof." The most recent exchange between the two before that time was Singh thanking Drake for following him on the platform back in 2019, and mentioning him in a couple of IG stories.
The lambasting was enough to prompt Singh to likewise publicly respond, also through an IG story in which he claimed he was only at the gig to see the opening act, SZA, who many Toronto fans may know for cancelling multiple big performances in the city in recent years.
"I went for SZA, not Kendrick," Singh wrote. "I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn't have gone at all."
He then praised how "OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and Canada," adding that "For me, it'll always be Drake over Kendrick."

Instagram stories posted by Drake and Jagmeet Singh, respectively, on Sunday.
Neither of the two have posted further on the subject.
Some fans, meanwhile, have chimed in to call Drake petty and embarrassing for the move, and for continuing to hold onto his months-old rivalry with Lamar so strongly.
