Justin Trudeau sends personal message to Taylor Swift asking to bring her tour to Canada

It seems like the Bad Blood between Taylor Swift and Canada has officially reached the highest level of government in the country.

On Wednesday night, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau personally reached out to the American singer-songwriter via Twitter, asking her to bring her sold-out The Eras Tour to Canada.

Trudeau quoted lyrics from Swift's very own chart-topping song, Anti Hero, in an effort to save Canada from another snub.

"Don't make it another cruel summer," Trudeau wrote, paying homage to another one of Swift's songs off her seventh studio album, Lover

On Wednesday morning, Swift announced an additional 14 shows as part of her international tour in 2024 alongside special guest Paramore. The new dates included shows in Paris, Lisbon, London, Milan, and Vienna, but Canadian Swifties were crushed to see the country excluded from the long list of stops.

Canada's repeated exclusion from the massive tour has led to growing frustrations, with fans personally asking Swift what the country did to upset her.

Last month, Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux even said that he would file an official letter of grievance on behalf of all Canadian Swifties to encourage the singer to bring the tour to the country.

"It has come to my attention that despite much anticipation, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has neglected to include any Canadian dates or locations as she released her international dates, which includes stops throughout Asia and Europe," Jeneroux wrote in the letter.

"Similar to what's being considered in Australia, I would like to file an official grievance within Parliament on behalf of all Swifties in Canada for her and her team to reconsider."

Rumours continue to circulate about a second North American leg of the tour, so only time will tell if Canada will be included in the potential list of shows.

International dates for The Eras Tour begin in Mexico City on Aug. 24, 2023 and will commence in Tokyo on Feb. 7, 2024. The tour will wrap up with its final date in London on Aug. 17, 2024.
