2007 Polaris Prize Nominees Announced

The 2007 Polaris Prize nominees were announced this afternoon at The Drake. (See photos and round-up over on Torontoist)

Nominees include local faves Feist (Toronto) and Junior Boys (Hamilton) as well as Arcade Fire, The Besnard Lakes, The Dears, Julie Doiron, Miracle Fortress, Joel Plaskett, Chad VanGaalen and Patrick Watson.

Although Feist has to be a front-runner, it will be a tough haul for a Torontonian to claim the prize for the second year running. Who will win? Or more importantly, what will they do with the money? If you missed it, last year's inaugural winner Final Fantasy (Owen Pallet) was on CBC Radio's Q earlier this week explaining to host Jian Ghomeshi how his disdain for the Rogers sponsorship inspired him to give away all the prize money. Listen to that podcast here.
