If you bought cheese recently, make sure to check the brand, as it could be part of a new recall across Canada.
On Wednesday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall notice for various types of cheese sold nationwide. The recall was triggered by Fromagerie L'Ancêtre Inc. due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
As of now, there have been no reported illnesses related to consuming the affected product. The recall has been categorized as a class one, which means that there's a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death.
"Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick," warns the CFIA.
Possible symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant people, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk. In severe cases, it could cause death.
Canadians are urged to check their fridges and not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled products. If you suspect you got sick from consuming the product, contact your healthcare provider.
"Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased," reads the notice.

The agency said it's continuing to investigate the situation, and it could lead to additional recalls.
Recent Canada-wide recalls include turkey gravy due to an undeclared ingredient and cookies due to the presence of metal wire.
