Century-old Toronto hotel now serving a fall afternoon tea you'll want to cozy up with

Grab your fascinator hat and slip on your crisp white gloves, as Toronto's Windsor Arms Hotel has invited you for afternoon tea.

Dating back to its origins in 1840, afternoon tea has been associated with British elegance and decorum, thanks to none other than Anna, Duchess of Bedford. It was used as a sort of bridge for the aristocrats who found themselves famished between lunch and dinner, which, at the time, was primarily held at eight or nine in the evening. Specific teas, desserts, and high-class attire were required.

Since then, the tradition has adapted to fit the times. However, its style, communal engagement, and those tiny cucumber sandwiches have endured through the ages.

Windsor Arms Hotel is keeping that time-honoured tradition alive in Toronto with its newly launched Fall Afternoon Tea.

Small cakes and sweets for afternoon teaWindsor Arms Hotel has a rich history that dates back to the institution's establishment in 1927. Built to marry the neo-Gothic architecture of its neighbouring beauty, the University of Toronto, this Yorkville establishment has, for generations, been home to visiting world-class stars, events of extravagance, and all things classy.

This fall, they want to share this longstanding tradition with you.

Fall Afternoon Tea at Windsor Arms can be everything from your next date spot to your precursor to Thanksgiving dinner, or even the perfect hideaway to have your next cozy gossip session with your friends.

The menu is beautifully curated to reflect the hotel's legacy.

Freshly baked maple apple scones with house-made preserves and clotted cream are the perfect pastry to pair with your tea.

If you lean more towards savoury than sweet, no need to fan yourself; Windsor Arms has got you covered. Savouries like duck rillette with fresh fig, smoked salmon with citrus zest and orange blossom pearls, and cucumbers with winter truffle cream cheese arrive on a tray, presented in an ornate way.

If you prefer something a bit heartier to tide you over, we also offer a halal roast beef option with grainy mustard and sauerkraut.

There's no rush needed to pick out your best floral dress for the occasion; you have time. Fall Afternoon Tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel is running now until November 30th.

At $85 per person, with $15 off Monday to Thursday, you can have an experience fit for a duchess.
