The 2026 list of North America's best restaurants has officially been unveiled, and three Toronto spots, as well as one in a small Ontario town, earned spots.
Even without recognition on a world stage, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate Toronto's impressive culinary scene. That said, when the city's restaurants earn recognition among those in major urban centres like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, it's all the more delicious.
That's exactly what happened on the evening of Thursday, May 28, when World's 50 Best unveiled its 2026 picks for the 50 best restaurants in North America, and this year, three Toronto restaurants managed to earn sought-after slots on the esteemed annual list.
A stalwart of "best" lists for years, Little Italy's Quetzal leads the pack in eighth place, followed by Edulis in 25th and Mhel in 28th.
Perhaps the proudest moment of all for Ontario, though, has to do with a restaurant outside the city. In addition to the Toronto restaurants on the list, Lincoln's Restaurant Pearl Morissette also earned a spot on the list, and it just so happened to beat out its big city neighbours.
Unsurprisingly, given its two Michelin stars and status as the best restaurant in Canada, Restaurant Pearl Morissette landed in third place on the list, coming in below Chicago's Smyth, in first place, and Calgary's Eight, in second. Collingwood's The Pine also narrowly scraped onto the list, finishing in the 48th-place slot.
Ontario's wins aren't the only ones to celebrate on the list, though. Several Canadian cities eked out impressive showings, too: four Montreal restaurants, including Mon Lapin in 5th place; two Vancouver restaurants; and spots in Quebec City and Whistler, all earned acclaim.
