TikTok star Lil Huddy gives glowing review of Toronto restaurant chain

He may not specialize in food reviews, but TikTok star Chase Hudson, better known by his online moniker Lil Huddy (or just Huddy), seemingly has good taste after he gave one Toronto restaurant chain a lengthy shout-out.

If you were a TikTok user during its early 2020s heyday, the name Lil Huddy should elicit immediate recognition from you. While the star has since moved on from dance trends and coloured LED strip lighting, in pursuit of more mainstream Hollywood success, he's still a major player on the app, boasting 30 million followers at last count.

Following the release of his Vancouver-filmed Tubi original film How to Lose a Popularity Contest, in which he plays opposite Toronto actress Sara Waisglass, Hudson has made his grand return to the Great White North and, if his TikTok content is any indication, he's already making the most of it.

Or, making the most of our dazzlingly diverse food scene at the very least.

In a video posted on Sunday, April 26, Hudson tells his followers that he just landed in Toronto (pronouncing it correctly, might I add) and had just ordered Egyptian food for the first time.

The source? None other than Tut's Egyptian Street Food, of course.

In the video, Hudson samples falafel dipped in house hot sauce, the Blaze fried chicken sandwich, three different sandwiches served in the restaurant's signature long and narrow box, and caps it all off with zalabaya drizzled with Nutella sauce for dessert.

The verdict is simple: "This is [...] amazing," Hudson exclaims after a single bite of the fried chicken sandwich.

"I'm in Toronto, baby," he goes on to say. "I want to be involved in the culture; let me get the Toronto experience."

And, while eating Egyptian food isn't quite as quintessential an experience as, say, getting a hot dog from the stand at the corner of King West and Portland at 2 a.m., ordering from and shouting out a local business is a great start.

Dare I suggest Hudson dine at the Queen and Spadina McDonald's next?
