People in Toronto love this new sandwich shop that's already expanding through Ontario

A new Toronto sandwich shop is already making a major splash — and expanding outside of the city.

No sooner had people in Toronto begun to register the existence of Bello Italian Sandwich Co., a new concept at The Well serving classic Italian cold cuts on fluffy focaccia, than another location popped up.

While The Well is a surefire spot for foot traffic, the second location, which opened just weeks after the first, was more unexpected: the Big Apple in Colborne. I guess if you want foot traffic, one of Ontario's most beguiling roadside attractions is a good place to set up shop.

Though Bello hasn't yet been in business for more than a month, it's already making a major splash among visitors to both The Well and The Big Apple, drawing rave social media reviews from visitors and building a considerable social media following in a short time.

There's a good reason for Bello's near-instant popularity: it has an equally viral cousin on the Toronto food scene.

According to Bello's social media, it "comes from the creative team behind Toronto's most viral sandwich concepts." Most notably, Vero Sandwich Co.

Since Vero opened on Queen West nearly a year ago, it's been lauded as one of the best Italian sandwich shops in Toronto — a big deal in a city with an Italian sandwich shop on virtually every corner. While Bello and Vero are each their own things, to share any amount of DNA with it seems auspicious indeed.

And, judging by Bello's near-instant success, that theory is proving true.

Bello isn't done with its Toronto takeover just yet, either: according to the sandwich shop's Instagram, locations are planned for both the Yonge and Lawrence and Yonge and Eglinton areas, at 3305 Yonge St. and 2177 Yonge St., soon.
