Canada's 50 best bars have been revealed for 2026, and, no surprise to those of us familiar with the city's scene, Toronto bars completely dominated the list.
If there was any doubt as to whether Toronto is the cocktail capital of Canada, the 2026 list of Canada's 50 best bars just proved it.
Released each spring, the list ranks the best and brightest beverage-based businesses in the country from coast to coast, and this year, Toronto bars accounted for a whopping 20 entries on the list, more than doubling runners-up Montreal and Vancouver, each with eight entries.
In fairness, a Montreal bar does appear before Toronto on the list, with Cloakroom Bar landing in first place, followed by Little Italy's very own Bar Pompette in second, a swap from their places on the 2025 list. Vancouver's Keefer Bar clinched third.
According to Canada's 100 Best, the awarding body, the list is voted on by a series of judges across the country, who are tasked with ranking their five best bar experiences from the past 16 months. The responses are then aggregated, and the final list is released.
While the inclusion of heavy hitters like Bar Pompette, Civil Liberties, Library Bar and Cry Baby Gallery (which all landed in the top ten) comes as little surprise, plenty of exciting first-time additions made it on the list, too.
Among the first-timers club were Suite 115, No Vacancy (which also earned the distinction of Canada's best new bar), Black Dice Cafe, 915 Dupont, 416 Snack Bar, Lonely Diner and Sweaty Betty's.
