Team behind Toronto donut chain just threw its hat in the frozen yogurt ring

A Toronto donut chain that's been making a splash since it launched earlier this year is already branching out in an entirely new direction.

A year ago, no one in the city had ever heard of Dang Good Donuts, and for good reason: it didn't exist yet. But in the five months since it began serving its hot, fresh mini donuts a la Tiny Tom in the city, it's more than made a name for itself.

The donut shop's notability in the city has only been aided by the fact that, just weeks after Dang Good Donuts opened its first location around Yonge and Eglinton, a sister location opened on Danforth.

It seems like the team behind the donut shop isn't content to lavish in the sweet life just yet, because they just opened yet another venture, but this time, donuts don't appear anywhere on the menu.

Opening in early October, Theo Greek is the latest concept from the team behind Dang Good Donuts. Here, hot, oily donuts give way to cups of cold, tart frozen Greek yogurt in the style of similar concepts like Kela and Mythos.

A healthy-ish alternative to the self-serve froyo we've come to expect from the likes of Menchies, Theo uses whole, high-protein Greek yogurt, adding a variety of toppings from chocolate sauce and strawberries to pistachio and cookie crumbles to sweeten the deal.

If you ask me, it's likely only a matter of time before you can get fresh donuts on top of your Greek yogurt, too.

Theo Greek is located at 793 Queen St. W.
