One of the most popular Tim Hortons locations in Ontario just closed permanently

An Ontario Tim Hortons location that's been a stalwart destination for scores of tourists has closed permanently.

Sometimes, it feels like Tim Hortons is playing a country-wide game of Whack-A-Mole when it comes to its locations. Just as soon as one opens its doors, another shuts down.

Through it all, though, Tim Hortons locations in Ontario remain as plentiful as ever. Wherever you find yourself in the province (and, dare I say, the country), you can rest assured that a honey cruller and a Double-Double are waiting for you not too far away.

The chain even opened a pop-up in the Eaton Centre during the 2025 holiday season just so people could stock up on its merchandise.

Still, not all Tim Hortons locations are created equal. Certain branches regularly attract far larger crowds than others, and few locations come close to that at Niagara Falls' Clifton Hill in that department.

Since 2006, the cafe location in the heart of Niagara's tourist mecca has been a go-to for road trippers and locals alike.

Sure, there's nothing particularly unique that sets this location apart from others, but it is situated at the centre of what's generously referred to as the "Las Vegas of Canada," and that's as sure a guarantee of success as any.

For the past two decades, no trip to Clifton Hill has been complete without an Ice Capp for your midday java boost or a bagel to bring back on the road, but as of Jan. 5, the cafe is officially closed for good.

On a Reddit post where a user announced the closure to fellow Niagara Falls frequenters, a representative from Clifton Hill confirmed the permanent closure of the location.

"Tim Hortons will be open today until 5:00pm! Sadly, after that, it'll be permanently closing to make way for something new," the comment from Clifton Hill's official account reads.

"While we can't share the reasoning behind the closure or what will replace it, we're excited for the new changes coming to Clifton Hill. Keep your eyes peeled for any upcoming announcements."

So, while we don't know what'll be replacing Tim Hortons yet, Ontario can rest assured knowing that a spot to eat is on its way. At the very least, the Burger King roller coaster down the street remains untouched.

Tim Horton's Clifton Hill was formerly located at 4950 Clifton Hill.
