A swanky new restaurant opening its doors in Toronto this week is giving patrons the royal treatment. I mean that quite literally, because it's situated inside the city's own castle.
Okay, technically Casa Loma isn't a real castle, in the sense that real royalty has never graced its hallowed halls (unless you count Drake), but it's the closest thing we have here in Toronto, and it certainly looks the part.
Already home to the esteemed BlueBlood Steakhouse, the dining options at the quasi castle are slated to get a big boost this week, as Bushido, a new Japanese restaurant specializing in blind, multi-course Kaiseki dining experiences, opens this Friday.
Leveraging Casa Loma's alluring mystique, the new restaurant will be equal parts immersive adventure and dining experience, offering patrons a set menu that changes night by night.
With each course, the setting will change as diners move through four of the property's 98 rooms to sample new flavours.
"Casa Loma has always held a sense of mystery," says Nick Di Donato, President and CEO of Liberty Entertainment Group, the hospitality group behind Bushido, BlueBlood and Michelin-starred DaNico, to name only a few.
"With Bushido, we wanted to create something that allows guests to experience the castle in an entirely new way. The most memorable part of the evening should be what they never saw coming."
Menus won't be shared with diners ahead of time, adding to the restaurant's aloof air, but you can expect Japanese bites abounding, and, really, isn't that enough to get your taste buds standing to attention?
Of course, all that glitters comes with a pretty considerable price tag. Welcoming just 16 diners a night, a reservation goes for $350 a person, with the option to add wine and sake pairings for an additional $100. Hey, if you want to eat like a king, you've got to spend like a king, too.
Bushido officially opens on Friday, Oct. 23, but reservations are open now.
