Grabbing lunch on Ossington? The strip's latest destination will have you feeling like you've stepped back in time.
Opening on May 9th, Linny's Luncheonette "is a nostalgic sandwich shop with a focus on hand-crafted deli-style sandwiches and sides," according to the team.
From Big Hug Hospitality (Sunny's Chinese, MIMI Chinese and Linny's), the fast-casual spot promises big flavours throughout its comfort-food menu.
An offshoot of Linny's—the team's dusky, modish deli-inspired steakhouse—the adjacent luncheonette is for days when you just want to grab the team's fat slices of brined and slow-smoked, tallow-basted pastrami with your bare hands.
"We're very excited about the opening of Linny's Luncheonette. This space gave us the opportunity to fully realize the Linny's vision in our building on Ossington," says owner and executive chef, David Schwartz.
Designed to "celebrate the time-honoured tradition of deli sandwiches," Linny's Luncheonette is also "an ode to the Schwartz's hot dog cart my family used to run in the 80s," he adds.

"IPSO Studio did an incredible job at capturing the spirit of the old-world delicatessen while paying homage to the original hot dog cart through detailed touches like our diamond-patterned stainless steel and colourful Formica counter tops."

Though steamies aren't on the menu "yet," customers will find mustard-slathered, hand-cut pastrami sandwiches, smoked fish sandwiches and plump knishes. On the side, puckery house-made pickles, savoury karnatzel, potato salad and coleslaw will round out the menu.
Deli must-haves, including Cherry Cotts and Vernor's sodas, will also be available for purchase alongside Linny's Luncheonette private label items, like hot sauce and pastrami spice.
Linny's Luncheonette is located at 174 Ossington Avenue.
