Huge bar and bowling alley opening at Yonge and Dundas in Toronto

The people behind Toronto's most well-known bar and bowling alley concept are about to open a brand new location in the heart of downtown.

In the near decade and a half since its inaugural Toronto location opened in the Entertainment District, Ballroom Bowl has become synonymous in the city with, what you could call, the new bowling.

The days of good old fashioned bowling alleys, with their still-warm-from-the-last-person shoes and hotdogs rotating under a heat lamp, while they have their own nostalgic charm, are rapidly fading away, and being replaced by a far more cushy experience; one where you can dine on $25 nachos and sip a cosmopolitan between turns.

Ballroom Bowl, while it's in good company with similar concepts like The Well's newly-opened National, has led the charge on that shift.

After more than a decade dominating the scene at John and Richmond, the business expanded with a hotly-anticipated sister location near Yonge and Bloor, further establishing their monopoly on luxury bowling experiences in Toronto in 2024 — but they didn't stop there.

Set to open its doors to the public this week, a brand-new Ballroom Bowl location is right on the horizon, and the location couldn't be more appropriate.

Maintaining its reach among some of the busiest areas of the city, Ballroom's third Toronto location is moving in to 10 Dundas East, shacking up with fellow juggernauts like Shake Shack and a soon-to-open Hard Rock Cafe.

It's only fitting, seeing as the only two things with potentially more mass appeal than bowling are burgers and Rock n' Roll.

The new location, which takes over the space left behind by Shark Club, will offer something new for even the most seasoned of regulars in the form of Duckpin Bowling.

According to Ballroom's website, Duckpin Bowling features rules and equiptment that are slightly different than traditional 10-pin bowling, which make the game more challenging and spices up the worn experience. Only time will tell, though, whether it proves to be more fun.

The venue will also feature, as is the standard at all Ballroom Bowl locations, a robust menu of pub-style fare and both alcoholic and zero-proof cocktails to keep you fuelled up and on top of your game.

Ballroom Bowl Yonge and Dundas officially opens to the public on Monday, Feb. 3.
